I will say this you need to tred very carfully saying things like Kool Herc invented Hip Hop. If you take a really deep dive into the subject you would know this is not the case. Unfortunatly HipHop like ALL MODERN MUSIC GENRES are a product of the military industrial complex. Studied music history all my life and its a hard pill to swallow but its the truth.
Hip-hop is a musical genre FIRST AND FOREMOST -- And with the "merry go round" technique (which is manual sampling) Herc made 1st generation hip-hop beats (what people refer to as "breakbeats") and was the first PRODUCER of hip-hop.. Which means he PRODUCED this musical genre.. In the music business, rappers DO NOT get credited for being the producer of a song, they only get credited as singer/songwriters.. So Herc LITERALLY produced Hip-Hop (the musical genre) .. He also brought everything together, making it a cult / culture.
I love and respect The Winstons - Amen Brother as much as anyone else but its just one side to the story. Don't forget it wasnt sampled till quite a bit after some of the grooves pointed out in this short but very well made Video on the subject. James Browns Funky Drummer and Incredible Bongo Bands Apache are some of the roots of juggling and sampling breakbeats, if this never because a thing guess what??? nobody would have sampled Amen Brother.
This was very informative thank you and great work
😂😂
james brown popularized it which had been in earlier jazz
Love it😊

Kool Herc did not beat juggle, at least not with rhythm. Flash invested beat juggling, which is used as loops today.
Flash openly said he took what herc done and improved it...
A very short video with description in simple words! Thank you))
What was the tribal like break grandmaster flash was beat juggling at 3:28?
It’s documented that Herc did not create this. This info is all wrong. Smh

Extending a style that was already created, or simply looping it, doesn't earn you the title of "creator of hip hop" come on now. Too many factors
Created alot nore than hi0 hop by doong that, that led to a whole switch in music and djing and gsve birth to a genres in uk (jungle/dnb) thats still going strong 30 years later! If you're talking about hip hop as a culture, then yh, i get you but this technique inspired the rap genre as a music alot more than any other factor...
THAT'S LITERALLY WHAT HIP HOP PRODUCERS DO NOW !! listen to the "Bound 2" or "Take Over" beat by Kanye.. It's called sampling (which he created) and break-beats are 1st gen hip-hop beats. This musical innovation along with his parties caused a domino effect.. the moment he made break-beats, "break-dancing" came synonymously.. and the fact the beats had no vocals provided a demand for Emcees to rap over them. He also had graffiti artist come to his parties so he LITERALLY orchestrated the symphony of hip-hop culture.. He might have not grew the lemons or the sugar can from which the sugar came from but he sure as hell made lemonade with it.. Which is what hip hop is - it's lemonade (a combination of different ingredients, not separated elements like FBA's and Tariq try to make it seem).
You can tell when someone doesn't know what the hell they are talking about about and you sir are one of them

So DJ Kool Herc started the Breakbeat, or was it way before 1970's? ... looking to the who and when Breakbeat actually started, it does says taken from Jazz, Drum samples!
The breakbeat has been there the whole time in songs when the drummer tends to play solo. And until 70s DJ Kool Herc invented the technique 'Juggling' to extend this 'breakbeat' part using 2 same records
hip hop has many factors. how is one "Chosen factor" considered the start? A lot of the props Herc gets , he's never even acknowledged. Not saying he didnt contribute, but it seems like a lot of the influence , of hip hop music, is intentionally left out at times.
Dj mario and Flowers started this style
@@vieshanblacksloft426 C A P -- They did nothing but press play.. All this tragic "they died too young to say they made hip-hop" narrative is BS because they both died in the 90's - meaning they lived through the period when Herc, Flash and Bambataa asserted themselves as the makers of the genre and they NEVER COUNTERED THEIR CLAIMS nor did they ever assert themselves as the founders.
the technique was not created by Kool Herc. Please do better research before you put out misinformation. Pete DJ Jones and Grandmaster Flowers were extending breakbeats with two turntables before Herc
Thats not true, they played disco at that time and i swear ive read interview where flowers said he heard herc do that first...
He told a story once about coming to have a listen to what you were doing with the cueing system. Do you remember where that was? It could have been anywhere. Sometimes he says he was influenced by me. But they’re trying to say that I played a different type of music, that I didn’t play his type of music, I played disco music. This is where the controversy comes in. Disco music is hip-hop music! Hip-hop music is nothing but R&B.
@@dj_adam_g_uk Says a dude in the UK 😂. You have know idea what you are talking about. Flowers and Pete DJ Jones were spinning 2 copies of the same record to extend breaks as early as 1970. Herc didn't start until 1973. When Pete and Flowers were the biggest DJs in NYC no one had even heard of Herc. You have know idea what disco is. Worry about garage or whatever yall listen to over there
@@kas3583 lol i just showed you what he said about his genre, he was playing disco, so hip hop started in gay disco clubs then? And no, i dont listen t9 garage, we made jungle in the 90s from breakbeats and took it to the next level over you Americans 😂 our music is still going strong 30 years later and were still using breakbeats, hip hop is non existence now, just some fruity rappers wearing make up and mumbling...

this is bullshit... dj mario was the first to do this...
Can you please show us more information? if not then might tik tok be something more for you than a mature platform like youtube?

This is damn nice.
what is damned nice? i.e define 'this' please
Great work!

Don't forget the Amen Break from one of the most sampled tracks in the history of music, "Amen Brother"
It annoys me when someone says that something that is known for the most of something is called "one of the most".
'Amen, Brother' *IS* the most sampled track, not just *one of them.*
@@TheHippyHoppyHippo indeed, that is where it all began. it pains me when young children talk ignorance and feel proud about it at the same time.
bruv im LITERALLY AN MC because of this one bit of music. big up jungle and drum n bass!
@@TheHippyHoppyHippono one cares nerd
Dude, were you high when you made this? The "breakbeat" is so called because it emphasizes the off-beat, duh... thats whats makes hip-hop, hop. Geez...
What are you talking about? Breakbeats are the drum break sections of songs that were looped at hip hop parties to keep people dancing. Has nothing to do with the off-beats.
Ether Secure I'm really not sure about that.
break beat might best be described as the beat in the break of the song amen brother. In my other comments there is a link to where the source material can be found.
Gee you'd almost think Amen brother never happened???
THEY ALL OWE James Brown!!!!
no @D.T. this is owed to ua-cam.com/video/5SaFTm2bcac/v-deo.html. I am so hopeless nowadays because of people running around in their bubbles not knowing anything
great video. cant believe there's a face for the creator of hip hop
@MrBrenman definitely true but still crazy that they were able to track it down to that dude but i def get what youre saying. Hip hop was developed and created by many people as a subculture its hard to pinpoint
I am not sure how old you guys are but someday you will be our leaders. shape up and do your fucking homework

Hiphop is James brown music
Dj Kool Herc "the inventor of Hip-Hop" that is the narrator's opinion. And so off it's worth pointing out - calm down bloke!
Pauly F. Who created it then? You better not say beastie boys cuz that’s a COMPLETE lie!
sneakydisco bruh STFU! I only brought him up because some people say they helped put rap on the map. That’s why I said it was a LIE you dumbass! Learn to read.
Being a Native New Yorker (not the Bronx) hip hop is not only a music genre, but it's a cultural expression that includes dance styles, dress styles, even the language. According to Michaelwaynetv on UA-cam, the music was already here and DJ's were playing the records that Herc spun. Of course he gets credit for bringing out obscure records that other DJ's couldn't find. Kool Herc's greatest contribution was picking exotic break sessions of records that people didnt hear on mainstream radio or in the clubs. DJ KOOL Herc was definitely an innovator of the genre. The point is that THERE WERE OTHER DJ'S who were main contributors to this music style also(ex: DJ Kool D, Disco King Mario, DJ Breakout). Herc did not invent hip hop. Like the other Bronx DJ's, he catered to the B-boys and the B-girls. They were the early precursors to the modern break dancers.
